Interested in bonsai? Do you love adventure and the great outdoors? Look no further! Sign up for one of our Private Group Yamadori excursions! Yamadori is the tradition of collecting bonsai trees from wild forests and mountains in the late winter or early spring while trees are still dormant (yes, it'll be chilly!). Sound intimidating? Don't worry, I'll be your personal Yamadori guide in locating, chopping, and digging (by shovel/hand) your new bonsai. We'll start in the morning with a short intro to Yamadori, show you our wild-collected bonsai, and layout general rules. Then we'll hike into the 30 acre woods at BlackRoot Farms to find your entire group a Yamadori to take home! Once we've got the trees bagged and tagged, we'll head back to the nursery to warm up and eat lunch. Then I'll help work with your group on each tree for any needed styling or specific care tips based on species to maximize its survival rates. Notes - Be prepared for normal weather in Feburary-March, which is rarely ideal. If weather conditions are too prohibitive or the ground is frozen solid, we'll reschedule. Bring a lunch or contact me to arrange catering options. We strongly recommend groups of 4-8, if you have a larger or smaller group or are alone in your bonsai journey, please contact us as we'd love to accommodate if possible.
To reschedule, please contact us at least 2 days prior to your session.
