Dates: Sunday, October 26, 10:30AM-5:30PM (with an hour for lunch) and Sunday, November 9, 1:00PM-4:00PM
In this exciting two-part collaborative intensive we will explore making bonsai planters through both slab construction (we will have templates available for those who wish to use them) and carving with artist Stephen Homer. After they are fired you’ll return for an immersive bonsai workshop with Eliot Myers of Blackroot Farms where you will pot up, prune, and shape your very own bonsai in one of your new creations!
Participants will have the option to select various glaze finishes to be applied by staff or can choose to come back to the studio after their initial firing to apply glaze themselves.

What makes a good bonsai planter
Slab construction of a planter
Carving and hollowing out a planter from a block of clay
Decoration options
Session Two:
Potting and wiring bonsai
Pruning and shaping
Care of your bonsai

Bonsai starter, soil, and other materials/tools for your bonsai
