Where We’ll Be
Workshops are held in a covered but outdoor space at the nursery. Temperatures fluctuate throughout the year, so please dress appropriately for the weather. We’ll keep things comfortable, but Mother Nature still has opinions.
Tree Species
Species rotate throughout the year based on what’s healthy and safe to work on during each season, ensuring your new bonsai starts off strong.
Late Winter & Spring (Mar–Apr): Junipers (outdoor) and Tropical species (indoor)
Summer (Jun–Aug): Tropical species only (indoor)
Fall (Sept–Nov): Junipers (outdoor) and Tropicals (indoor)
FAQ
Do I need any experience?
Nope. This workshop is designed specifically for beginners!
Can children attend?
Yes! Kids are welcome as long as they are accompanied by a supervising adult. The workshop involves sharp tools, so younger children will need hands-on supervision.
How long is the workshop?
Typically 2.5–3 hours, depending on group size and weather.
What should I bring?
Nothing except clothes appropriate for the weather and a willingness to learn. All tools and materials are provided.
Is the workshop indoors or outdoors?
It’s held in a covered outdoor space. We’re shielded from rain, but not fully climate-controlled, so please dress for the season.
What happens in bad weather?
Light rain is fine. Severe weather may cause the workshop to be rescheduled—if that happens, you’ll be contacted immediately with options.
Can I bring a friend to watch?
Due to space and hands-on instruction, attendance is limited to ticketed participants only.
What species will I be working on?
This depends on the season (see the Tree Species section above), but all trees used are beginner-friendly and safe to style and repot at that time of year.
Do I get to take the tree home?
Absolutely. You’ll leave with a potted bonsai you created yourself.
Can I buy additional trees or supplies during the workshop?
Yes! The nursery is open after each workshop for anyone who wants to explore or pick up extra material.
