Already taken a Beginner Bonsai Workshop, or have a bonsai that could use some guidance? This session is designed as a relaxed, hands-on follow-up focused on working your trees with direct help in a small-group setting.

BYOT sessions are intentionally casual and flexible. We’ll start with a short seasonal overview, then spend the majority of the time working trees together.

How the Session Works

1. ~20 minutes of instruction expanding on seasonal care and next-step techniques

2. Live demonstration reworking a tree (either an example tree or a volunteer’s)

3. 1–2 hours of hands-on time repotting, pruning, wiring, and styling your own tree(s) with individual guidance throughout

There’s no formal lecture and no set outcome — the goal is progress, problem-solving, and building confidence working on your own material.

Who This Is For?

1. Returning Beginner Workshop students

2. Bonsai owners with an existing tree who want help repotting or restyling

3. Anyone looking for a low-pressure environment to ask questions and get hands-on guidance

   
   

What to Bring

• Your own bonsai or pre-bonsai tree

• Tools if you have them (limited tools and wire will be available)

If you no longer have a tree, or need a better candidate to work on, bonsai and pre-bonsai material will be available for purchase at the nursery.

👉 If you plan to purchase a tree before the session, please arrive at least 30 minutes early so we can get you set up before the work session begins. BYOT participants receive 15% off select training materials (basic stock trees/pre-bonsai, pots, and wire) purchased during the session.
