Trident Maple Grove
Trident Maple (Acer buergerianum) Grove Pre-Bonsai – 4–6 Trees
This pre-bonsai grove planting features 4 to 6 Trident Maple trees, arranged in an 8" training pot to begin developing as a forest composition. These groupings are selected for variation in trunk size and spacing, offering a strong start for creating a naturalistic multi-tree scene. Trident Maple is one of the most reliable and forgiving species for deciduous bonsai.
As a Bonsai:
Trident Maple is prized for its small, three-lobed leaves, excellent ramification, and vigorous, forgiving growth habit. It responds well to pruning and wiring, and with time develops a dense canopy and well-proportioned branching. In forest plantings, it creates a dramatic seasonal display—from bright green growth in spring to vibrant orange and red in fall.
📢 This is a cold-hardy species—it requires a winter dormancy and should be kept outside year-round. In locations with extreme cold, we recommend placing it on the ground, mulching around the pot, and protecting it from wind.
